Congratulations – you have made it to another Friday and another edition of “Caught My Eye.” These are the stories and e-mails that I took a look at this week, but did not have time to write about.
By the way, I make my predictions for the Super Bowl at the end. So grab a cup of coffee, sit back, relax, and enjoy…
Big Brother:
There were hundreds of birds found dead in South Dakota. Was it aliens? Was it an M. Night Shyamalan movie? Was it a sign of the end days?
Nope, it was just the Federal Government…
Lock up those little animals:
When I was 15, I would not have blamed the teacher for doing this to me. I was a problem. I am still am, only wiser…
Texting and Walking:
It can be dangerous! This young lady took a tumble into the fountains at a mall. That’s pretty cool!
Hmmm…what did she look like?
The Victoria Police blog said the man reported “a woman came into his bedroom, promptly disrobed, slid into the bed next to him and fell asleep,” the blog said. She was in the wrong apartment…
For a Laugh and for Info:
If you are on Twitter, I would suggest that once or twice a day you do a search for #MTLeg which is the hashtag for the Montana Legislature. Sometimes there are some funny things and sometimes the information is useful. Since the media coverage of the Montana Legislature is very poor, Twitter is the best way to get the inside scoop.
Political Inbox:
There were a lot of political e-mails this week for some reason. Here is a look at a few of my favorites:
–Organizing for America (Barack Obama’s Campaign) sent me at least two e-mails with the subject, “Tell Rep. Rehberg to vote down repeal.” They told me to “Call Rep. Rehberg now at (202) 225-3211. Say you’re counting on the new Congress to do the right thing by their constituents — and that’s not repealing health reform.”
I agreed with Rehberg’s vote to repeal it; I’d like to see the senate vote on it, too.
–Jon Tester’s campaign sent an e-mail with this subject, “We need 1,000 people to each pitch in ten bucks in one month – can you help?” He writes, “We’re in for a tough fight this year, but, Jack, I’m a Montanan. And Montanans don’t sit down and do nothing, walk out, or give up just because work is hard. We know tough — and tough is the kind of fight we’re facing in the election of 2012. That’s why I’m starting this campaign right now. A strong foundation is our biggest advantage coming out of the gate, but I need you to help me build it.”
The nicest way to explain Jon Tester’s four years as a United States Senator would be to compare it to the television show “Hee-Haw.” Tester is the character named Junior Samples. Here’s a video.
-The new chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC) Reince Priebus, who looks a lot like a young Don Knotts, sent out his initial e-mail.
Guess what? He asked for money! Imagine that…
-The Montana Democratic Party sent an e-mail with the subject, “In Case You Missed It: Helena IR Calls our Rep. Dennis Rehberg.”
The first thing I thought of was that it may be just a little ironic that at least one employee of the Montana Democratic Party worked for the Helena Independent Record…
-The Montana Republican Party sent an e-mail saying, “Jack -Montana’s Congressman Denny Rehberg voted to repeal Obamacare! Republicans are fighting it in the state Legislature, in the courts, and in the court of public opinion!”
They also said there’s a “State Banquet” on March 10 in Helena.
They did not mention free food, but there will be state legislators and notable guests there. I guess they are waiting for me to RSVP before announcing that I am one of the notable guests…”you know him as Jack the Blogger, now get to hear his thoughts on the issues that are important to you…” Just kidding.
Football Predictions:
I believe the Packers and the Steelers will play in the Super Bowl on February 6. That’s all I have to say about that…except that this is real football being played outside…
We don’t need no silly domes…
Aaron Rodgers:
Seems Green Bay Packer QB Aaron Rodgers is not as terrible as we all thought. OK, I jumped on the bandwagon, too. So when Aaron reads this column, I want him to know I apologize for thinking and writing poorly of him. BTW, the Packers front office still sucks…
Brett Favre Parody Video “What Should I do?”
Funny. This video is rated “R” so take that into account before viewing it HERE. You were warned.
